PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber-treating agent dyeing a fiber again to a desired color while simultaneously removing the color of the fiber dyed by an oxidation dye; and to provide a fiber-treating method using the agent. SOLUTION: The fiber-treating agent is prepared by mixing (a) a hair-treating first agent containing an oxidation dye-reducing agent as an essential component, and (b) a hair-treating second agent containing a direct dye as an essential component. Preferably, the oxidation dye-reducing agent (a) is at least one kind selected from the group consisting of ascorbic acids, hydroxymethanesulfinic acids, thioglycolic acids, cysteines, sulfites and thiosulfates.
