A proton conductive material is provided to have excellent proton conductivity and substitute fluorinated polyethylene sulfonic acid used in salt electrolysis, seawater desalination, water treatment, proton conductive membranes, etc. A proton conductive material comprises poly(phospho-phenylene oxide) in which at least phosphoric acid group-containing side chains are provided in a main chain of polyphenylene oxide. The poly(phospho-phenylene oxide) is a random copolymer represented by the following formula 1. In the formula, R is any one selected from a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an ester group, a phenyl group, a carboxylic acid group, a sulfonic acid group, a sulfoamidic acid group, and a phosphoric acid group, n is an integer of 100-100000, a, b, and c are ratios of repeat units in the formula 1, wherein a:(b+c) is 3:5-6:2. |
