<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To guarantee the compatibility of stored data and preclude the possibility that incompatible data are accumulated, by checking the data sent from a data processor. <P>SOLUTION: The CPU of a file server 101 analyzes the format of data received from a PC 103a. A process for either registering data or restricting the registration of the data in a storage means depending on whether or not the format of the data received matches a particular data format is performed.
