<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fingerprint reading sensor unit, in which a finger can be easily positioned. <P>SOLUTION: In this fingerprint reading sensor unit 21, the first joint of the finger is received by a ridge line 29. Since the man can easily feel a touch at the first joint, the finger can be easily positioned to the ridge line 29. At this time, the finger is received by a recessed part 32 and a dent 28. Since the recessed part 32 is extended in a second length larger than a first length, a fingerprint reading sensor 27 can be disposed close to the first joint of the finger. Therefore, when the first joint is positioned to the ridge line 29, the finger is positioned to an optimum position to the sensor 27. As the first length is set smaller, the sensor 27 can scan the fingerprint in a position closer to the first joint.
