<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal spraying method capable of appropriately controlling the temperature of spray particles. <P>SOLUTION: The thermal spraying method comprises: a preliminary thermal spraying step of performing thermal spraying in a direction different from a thermal spraying object; a temperature detecting step of detecting the spray particle temperature in the preliminary thermal spraying step; an adjusting step of adjusting the set parameter of a thermal spraying gun in such a manner that the spray particles attain the prescribed temperature; a step of adjusting the relative position of the thermal spraying object with respect to the thermal spraying gun so as to attain the position where the spray particles temperature is detected in the temperature detecting step; and a step of subjecting the thermal spraying object to thermal spraying in the set parameter adjusted in the adjusting step.
