PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable mounting of ink cartridges with a number of kinds of ink volumes onto one ink cartridge holder. SOLUTION: On the side face 2 of an ink cartridge in an ink jet recording device, a recessed portion 5 is formed in parallel with the mounting direction extending from the bottom face 3 to the proximity of the upper face 4. Mounting of ink cartridges with a number of kinds of ink volumes is enabled by changing the volumes of an ink-receiving portion 1b protruding outside the holder 9 in the ink cartridge after the ink cartridge and holder 9 are mounted in position by engaging the partly cut-out side wall 32 of the holder 9 with the recessed portion of the ink cartridge.
