PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically cancel an automatic answering telephone mode while an automatic answering telephone set is not used, in a facsimile machine which is juxtaposed with the automatic answering telephone set and to which the automatic answering telephone mode is set. SOLUTION: A facsimile machine 9 is switched from an automatic answering telephone set 7 when an incoming calling signal to the relevant telephone set 7 reaches the number of times of calling, and includes a timer unit 21 and a call arrival mode setting unit 19. The timer unit 21 starts counting in response to a predetermined operation. The call arrival mode setting unit 19 cancels automatic answering telephone mode setting if a timer value of the timer unit 21 exceeds a preset value when the automatic answering telephone set 7 does not answer the call but the relevant facsimile machine 9 answers it.
