PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise productivity by shortening a processing time required for reading or forming an image concerning a plurality of originals without preparing a plurality of devices, such as an original stand or an original reader. SOLUTION: A scanner includes a plurality of registers setting a value calculated from an adjustment value for absorbing a model difference and data inputted by a user, and reads the image in response to the setting value. Data for indicating which one of the adjustment value and the data is used for the calculation of the setting value are stored by each register. When the original image is read in each page of the plurality of originals, the propriety of change in the setting value of each register is determined by comparing the adjustment value on each page and the data inputted by the user on each page with the storage content. The new setting value is calculated in response to the storage content, based on the data inputted by the user and the adjustment value on the page concerning the page to be processed, concerning the register determined to have necessity of updating.
