PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To monitor abnormality so that the type of occurring abnormality can be discriminable. SOLUTION: This abnormality detector comprises: a first detecting means for detecting a prescribed event in a monitoring space; a second detecting means for detecting abnormality of its own device; a short circuit for short-circuiting a pair of signal lines; a disconnection circuit for disconnecting the signal lines; and a control means for short-circuiting the pair of signal lines at the short circuit when the first detecting means detects an event and intermittently disconnecting the signal lines at the disconnection circuit when the second detecting means detects abnormality. Thus, an abnormality report output corresponding to the type of abnormality is achieved to a monitoring device connected through the pair of signal lines, and flexible response corresponding to the significance of the abnormality can be achieved.
