PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-sized oriented film in which the in-plane slow axis and coefficient Nz value of the film alone have specific characteristics, and to provide a method for manufacturing such long-sized oriented film. SOLUTION: The long-sized oriented film is composed of a transparent resin and is characterized as follows: The width of the film is≥1,000 mm; the film has the in-plane slow axis in a direction inclined by 10 to 80°from the transverse direction of the film; the variation in the direction of the slow axis is within±1.5°over the entire width of the film; the coefficient Nz value expressed by (n<SB>x</SB>-n<SB>z</SB>)/(n<SB>x</SB>-n<SB>y</SB>) exceeds 0 and below 0.85, when the refractive index in the in-plane slow axis direction to the light of a wavelength 550 nm is defined as n<SB>x</SB>, the refractive index in the direction orthogonal within the plane to the in-plane slow axis as n<SB>y</SB>, and the refractive index in a thickness direction as n<SB>z</SB>.
