PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulley device in which a plurality of pulley blocks used for lifting a heavy load are used, reduced in the overall height thereof, allowed to use commercial standard pulley blocks, and hard to cause interference between pulleys due to the unbalance of the tensions of a wire and a lifting method using the pulley device. SOLUTION: The pulley devices 1a, 1b in which pulley blocks 2a each having a sheave are combined with each other comprise mounting fittings 6a, 6b formed of a chevron-shaped plate-like material for mounting the pulley blocks and binding members 15a, 15b for binding the mounting fittings to a fixed lifting piece 10 supporting the weight of a lifted load or the lifting piece 13 of the lifted load. A binding point A between the binding member and mounting fitting, and the binding points B1, B2, B3 to Bm between the pulley blocks and mounting fittings are arranged in the chevron-shape with the point A used as the apex.
