PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet carrying device having a constitution for properly registering the rear end of a recording sheet by eliminating the dragging of the recording sheets in a tray. SOLUTION: The sheet carrying device has sheet stacking means 3 and 4 each capable of loading a sheet material carried when postprocessing the sheet material after forming an image and an introducing means 5 introducing the sheet material toward the sheet stacking means 3 and 4, and is characterized in that the sheet stacking means 3 and 4 are provided with interlocking checking mechanisms 100 checking the sheet materials already stacked in the sheet stacking means in moving in the introducing direction so as to be followable when introducing the sheet material, and the interlocking checking mechanism 100 has a constitution 100B for applying a moving load in the introducing direction of a newly introduced sheet material to the upper surface of the uppermost sheet material among the sheet materials already stacked in the sheet stacking means.
