PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive bearing unit which efficiently prevents rust by a simple process without increasing the number of part items. SOLUTION: The unit is equipped with seal members 10, 20 provided to a vehicle body side and wheel side so as to seal an annular space between a static wheel 2 fixed to a vehicle body side and a rotating wheel 4 connected to a wheel side. The seal member 10 on the wheel side is positioned with the base end fixed to the static wheel and the tip is normally brought into a slide contact with a seal sliding surface 12m formed on the outer peripheral surface of the rotary wheel. In the rotary wheel, a hub flange 12a to which a wheel side component is fixed is protrusively provided to the wheel side. The seal sliding surface is formed in a portion transferring from an outer peripheral surface of the rotary wheel to the hub flange and constituted by a curved surface opposed to the static wheel. At least the seal sliding surface in the outer peripheral surface (the entire surface 12M) of the rotary wheel is subjected to rustproof treatment by a prescribed rustproof treatment material.
