<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaner for removing ozone, volatile organic compounds and NOx which operates stably and continuously for a long time. <P>SOLUTION: The air cleaner has titanium oxide layers 51a and 51b, phosphorescent pigment layers 52a and 52b, and a discharge lamp 76 for irradiating the titanium oxide layers 51a and 51b and the phosphorescent pigment layers 52a and 52b with light. Ozone, nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds generated within an image forming apparatus are decomposed by a photocatalyst function of the titanium oxide layers 51a and 51b using light emitted from the discharge lamp 76 when the discharge lamp 76 is on and using light emitted from the phosphorescent pigment layers 52a and 52b when the discharge lamp 76 is off. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
