摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an electro-optical device in which a laminate state of a protective film can be well and sustainably maintained even to a curved substrate and which ensures long-term reliability, and to provide an electronic apparatus. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the electrophoretic display device 1 which includes a display device 4 equipped with a pair of substrates 2, 3 holding microcapsules 10 in between, which is sealed with a pair of protective films 5, 5', and is used in a curved state, includes: a covering step with the protective film to cover the front and rear faces of the display device 4 with the pair of protective films 5, 5' and then to seal the gap between the pair of protective films 5, 5' with an adhesive 18 containing a thermoplastic resin on the outer periphery side of the display device 4; a bending step to heat the sealed portion 16 so as to melt the adhesive 18 and in this state to bend the display device 4 in accordance with the used state; and a bent shape holding step to cool and solidify the melted adhesive 18 so as to hold the display device 4 in the bent state with the pair of protective films 5, 5'.
