PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for repelling insect pests exerting excellent repelling effect on the insect pests with no limitations of relevant preparation form, application level and application place. SOLUTION: The method comprises transpiring at least one specific dibasic acid ester as active ingredient and exposing the transpired active ingredient to insect pests to repel them.
