PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple-structured rice cooker, excellent in energy saving effect. SOLUTION: The rice cooker comprises a pot for storing a cooked object, a rice cooker body, a lid body for closing the pot and the rice cooker body, and a control means for boiling and heat-insulating the cooked object by controlling a heating means. The rice cooker body has an opening for housing the pot, the heating means for heating the cooked object, and a vent and an exhaust port communicating with the outside. The rice cooker body has a shutter mechanism for opening/closing the vent and the exhaust port. The shutter mechanism is controlled by the control means to open the vent and the exhaust port in the period when the temperature inside the rice cooker body rises to a prescribed temperature and to close the vent and the exhaust port in the period when the temperature is the prescribed temperature or lower.
