1,096,036. Roller blinds. R. A. GILL. Aug. 24, 1966 [Aug. 25, 1965], No. 36460/65. Heading A4B. A heat insulation screen for a window, glass door, &c. comprises a sheet C of flexible material wound by a spring return or crank handle mechanism on a roller A which is supported by brackets B, each vertical edge of the sheet being embraced by a sealing guide. The guides consists of a pair of opposed sheet-contacting members of pliable, e.g. foamed, material, each supported by a rigid part-casing and urged to grip the edge of the sheet by the engagement of press-stud parts or the attraction of magnets for other magnets or a ferrous metal strip arranged along the length of the guide. A rigid strip D is enclosed near the free end of the screen, or pulling cord E provided, and a strip of pliable material is adhered. In a modification the roller is vertical and a single sealing guide extends horizontally to engage the lower edge of the screen, and vertical bars may be incorporated in the sheet to deform round a bay window.
