The invention relates to a heat exchanger (2) for water-cooled network cabinets and a method for cooling network cabinets, in particular server cabinets. The heat exchanger is an air-water heat exchanger, which is formed in redundant fashion and ensures a leakproof arrangement and cooling in a network cabinet. The heat exchanger has two heat exchanger elements (3, 4) with separate cooling water connections (13, 14) arranged with formation of an interspace (5) for feeding the exhaust air from the cabinet interior. A partition (10) is arranged in adjustable fashion in the interspace, and in t he case of disturbance, for example in the event of the failure of a heat exchanger element or a cooling circuit, the corresponding heat exchanger element is blocked in air engineering terms with the aid of the partition. T he whole of the exhaust air is cooled in the intact heat exchanger element and fed to the cabinet interior, with the result that an interruption of operati on is not necessary.
