<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a brain function ameliorant that is obtained from an inexpensive material and exhibits an effective brain function ameliorating action and/or ataractic tranquilizing effect by daily intake. <P>SOLUTION: The brain function ameliorant comprises a composition obtained from asparagus as an active ingredient. Preferably the composition obtained from asparagus is an extract from young stems of asparagus. Preferably the composition obtained from asparagus is a composition containing GABA. Preferably the composition from asparagus is obtained by enriching asparagus so as to increase a GABA content.
