PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect fraudulent coin operation by using components of an optical mouse. SOLUTION: A fraudulence detector of a coin selector for detecting authenticity of a coin 10 input into the coin selector comprises: light emitting means (34, 52); an image sensor 42 for receiving light projected on the coin 10 by the light emitting means and reflected from the coin 10, as an image pattern; an image processing means (44) for calculating the moving direction and distance of the image from a differential pattern of the image on the image sensor 42 with the lapse of time; and a means (50) for determining the fraudulence of falsifying the count of coins, based on the moving direction and distance calculated by the image processing means (44).
