The device has a laminar covering unit (22) guided into lateral upper guiding units (24a, 24b) and limiting a tail-lateral storage space (12) in its top side in a closing position by a loading surface (32). A double baffle for the covering unit is provided in an area of a front side of the storage space, so that the covering unit is partially moved under the loading surface during opening and is arranged plane-parallel to the baffle. Guiding devices (34a, 34b) for the covering unit are arranged below the loading surface. The guiding devices are connected with the loading surface.
