<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having a charging mechanism that has an inexpensive configuration, and capable of forming a satisfactory output image. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a photoreceptor drum 1 that rotates round a drive shaft 5; a charging roller 2 that charges the surface of the photoreceptor drum 1 by applying a voltage in the vicinity of the surface of the photoreceptor drum 1; charging roller drive gear transmission mechanisms 3 and 4 that transmit the rotating force of the photoreceptor drum 1 to the drive of the charging roller 2 through gear connection. The charging roller 2 moves to a position near the photoreceptor drum 1 by driving force produced in the start of the rotation of the photoreceptor drum 1. When the photoreceptor drum 1 is not rotated, the charging roller 2 is moved to a predetermined position by an elastic member 8 composing a charging roller moving mechanism. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
