PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method, apparatus and article of manufacture for network access of partial document imagery. SOLUTION: The method, apparatus and article of manufacture for network access of the partial document imagery is described. In one embodiment, the method comprises receiving a request for a region of a page of a document, the request being originated from a client, determining one or more objects in a source file that intersect the region of the page, the source file having two or more codestreams and sending back a response having a subset of the information in the file.
