PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyester, comprising preliminarily crystallizing the surfaces of amorphous polyester pellets, crystallizing the pre-crystallized pellets with an IR ray radiator, and then crystallizing, drying or solid phase-polymerizing the pellets, when the amorphous polyester pellets obtained by melt-polycondensation are crystallized, dried or solid phase-polycondensed, thereby preventing the mutual adhesion of the pellets and the adhesion of the pellets to a crystallization device and a drying device, and simultaneously efficiently crystallizing, drying or solid phase-polymerizing the pellets to produce the high quality polyester at a low cost, and to provide the method for producing the polyester, by which water is efficiently dried and removed from the moisture-absorbed polyester. SOLUTION: This method for producing the polyester comprises thermally pre-crystallizing the melt-polycondensed polyester and then crystallizing the pre-crystallized polyester with an IR ray radiator.
