PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure cross-section profiles of teeth and gums with an optical coherent tomography by using a small probe capable of inserting in a buccal cavity in a dental optical tomographic image system. SOLUTION: The light is guided to a probe 18A by using a scanning light source 10 through an interference optical counter 16. The probe 18A irradiates teeth and gums with the light and the reflected light is received through the interference optical counter with a light receiving element. At the same time, the irradiation position is continuously changed upward and downward. The reflected light is transformed as an interference signal by Fourier transform to get an image signal of the depth direction. This is arranged from the position signal of a position sensor stored in the probe to get a precise two-dimensional cross-section image. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
