<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protection device for a vehicle which clearly distinguishes a signal of acceleration outputted from a sensor module 30 and a signal of failure diagnosing result and protects the occupant protection device from being unnecessarily started as a result. <P>SOLUTION: An output signal which is outputted to a control part 20 by a signal output circuit 38 of the sensor module 30 includes a failure diagnosing judging code when a failure diagnosing part 22 of a control part (airbag ECU) 20 outputs a failure diagnosing starting signal. The output signal which is outputted to the control part 20 by the signal output circuit 38 includes a detection judging code when the failure diagnosing part 22 does not output the failure diagnosing starting signal. Accordingly, the control part 20 judges whether a judging code included in the output signal is the failure diagnosing judging code or the detection judging code, so that whether acceleration data included in the output signal is a signal based on a failure diagnosing processing or the acceleration data caused by collision or the like is judged. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
