<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive unit that is operated stably and hardly damaged, even if a voltage between upper and lower arm grounds is high. <P>SOLUTION: The motor drive unit is provided with the arm consisting of a first power semiconductor switching element and a second power semiconductor switching element connected in series between main terminals, and a level shifter circuit that transmits a control signal of the first semiconductor switching element connected to the high voltage side of the arm from a low voltage side circuit to the high voltage side circuit.
