<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain preferable characteristics without changing a liquid crystal material of a liquid crystal light valve. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention provide a liquid crystal display device including: a light source 520; three liquid crystal light valves 525R, 525G, 525B; a condensing optical system which divides the light emitting from the light source into color light of red light, green light and blue light having main wavelengths different from one another and introduces the light to the respective three liquid crystal light valves; and a projecting optical system 506 which enlarges and projects the light modulated by the liquid crystal light valves. The device has a function capable of keeping temperature T of the three liquid crystal light valves to satisfy the relation of T(liquid crystal light valve for red light)<T(liquid crystal light valve for green color)≤T(liquid crystal light valve for blue light). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
