CROSSLINKED POLYMER COMPOSITION AND USE THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crosslinked polymer composition achieving an inherent adhesion between surfaces and achieving enhancement of a structure; and the use thereof.

SOLUTION: This crosslinked polymer composition contains a first synthetic polymer having a plurality of nucleophilic groups which is bonded to a second synthetic polymer having a plurality of electrophilic groups through a covalent bond. The first synthetic polymer is preferably a synthetic polypeptide or polyethylene glycol modified to have a plurality of nucleophilic groups. The second synthetic polymer may be a hydrophilic or hydrophobic synthetic polymer and either contains two or more electrophilic groups or is converted into a derivative having two or more electrophilic groups. This composition can contain further other components. Further, there are also disclosed such methods by using this crosslinked polymer composition as a method for achieving an adhesion between a first surface and a second surface, a method for achieving enhancement of a structure, a method for preventing a formation of a surgical adhesion and a method for coating the surface of a synthetic implant.
