PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoreceptor which has high durability, suppresses image degradation due to rise of residual potential and image blurring, and stably yields images of high image quality even after long-term repeated use, and to provide a coating liquid for a top surface layer of the photoreceptor very excellent in storage stability, a method for manufacturing the photoreceptor using the coating liquid, an image forming method using the photoreceptor, an image forming apparatus, and a process cartridge for the apparatus. SOLUTION: The photoreceptor is an electrophotographic photoreceptor comprising a photosensitive layer formed on a conductive support and containing a filler in a layer of the photosensitive layer remotest from the conductive support, and a top surface layer of the photoreceptor contains at least an organic compound having an acid number of 10-700 (mgKOH/g) and at least one selected from compounds represented by formula (2), wherein R3and R4each represent a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic hydrocarbon group or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group and can be the same or different, R3and R4can bond to each other to form an N-containing heterocyclic group; Ar3and Ar4each represent a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic cyclic group; l' and m' each represent an integer of 0-3, provided that l' and m' are not simultaneously 0; and n' represents an integer of 1-3.
