PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound insulating board for insulating sound by elastic effect of in-plane expansion and contraction of a board member without depending on support of surroundings, even when the phase difference that depends on the location is generated in sound pressure that is applied to the board member. SOLUTION: The sound insulating board comprises the board member 1 formed in a shape having a curvature, such as arch type and dome type; and five beams 2 for fixing edge sections 1a and 1b of a section, having the curvature of the board member 1, are fixed with both ends 2a and 2b. The radius of curvature of the board member 1 is set so that the primary resonance frequency of the in-plane expansion and contraction mode [Young's modulus/ädensity×(radius of curvature)<SP>2</SP>}]<SP>1/2</SP>/(2×the circular constant), which acts in the curving direction of the board member 1, can be set to be within the audible frequency band or higher than the frequency of the sound of insulation object, and curving deformation of the board member 1 is suppressed and the sound is insulated by the in-plane elastic effect of the board member 1.
