PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water treatment system in which disinfection performance is assured by performing uniform UV ray irradiation, and consequently when abnormality occurs in a part of UV ray lamps and a protective tube, the influence of the abnormality can be reduced as much as possible. SOLUTION: The water treatment system is provided with a UV ray irradiation apparatus 1 and a water clarifying treatment monitoring and controlling apparatus 8. In the UV ray irradiation apparatus 1, two or more UV ray lamps 15-1 to 15-6 housed in the protective tube 16 are arranged in parallel to a vessel axis in a cylindrical vessel 10 and fluid to be treated descending from an upper part in the vessel 10 downward while whirling is irradiated with UV ray from the UV ray lamps. The water clarifying treatment monitoring and controlling apparatus 8 has illuminance measuring means 6-1 to 6-3 for measuring UV ray illuminance in the vessel 10 and UV ray irradiation quantity determining means 8A for determining UV ray irradiation quantity based on a predetermined flow rate of the fluid to be treated flowing in the vessel 10 and illuminance measured by the illuminance measuring means.
