A method and an apparatus for estimating a channel are provided to solve the problem that channel impulse response is not accurately estimated by a cyclic structure of a training signal including a PN sequence when the channel is estimated through the PN sequence. An apparatus for estimating a channel includes a correlator(210), a channel determining unit(220), and a channel selection unit(230). The correlator correlates a received signal and a training signal and outputs correlation values. The channel determining unit receives a correlation value of a signal in the first duration included in a training signal duration of the received signal and the training signal, and detects position information of a signal in the first duration generating a correlation value, which exceeds a reference value, among the correlation values output from the correlator.
