<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate and display realistic character images with many characters without increasing processing load of hardware in a conversation field. <P>SOLUTION: A control section 11 during 2D/3D character determination treatment confirms the contents of the display information which indicates the display state such as the displayed position and brightness of non-player characters, determines whether such display state of the non-player characters indicated by the display information meets the non-display requirements, and determines not to display in case the requirements are not met. Then it determines whether the display state of the non-player characters meets the 2D display requirements and determines to display as 2D characters when the requirements are met or to display as 3D characters when the requirements are not met.
