<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing device and a printing system that can create an intended tape by preventing damage and illegibility of characters printed on the tape even when the tape on which printing is made is narrow. <P>SOLUTION: When the width of the printing medium is below the threshold value (S3: YES), the device moves on to S5, and replaces the characters developed into the typeface specified in S1 with a simplified typeface data 57. The simplified typeface data 57 is created in such a manner that lines of small print are made thin for good legibility or lines are omitted in some instances. The inputted character string is developed into an image using the simplified typeface data 57 which, in S5, has replaced the inputted characters, and is printed by a thermal printing mechanism 4, creating a printed printing medium 23. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
