<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a bearing unit which suppresses the occurrence of abnormal noise by reducing a friction resistance in an abutting part of a constant velocity joint and bearing unit without requiring an additional new machining process. <P>SOLUTION: A manufacturing method of a bearing unit is equipped with: a static wheel 2 fixed to a vehicle body, a rotary wheel 4 connected to a vehicle wheel side; a rotary wheel component 16 fittable to the rotary wheel; and a plurality of rolling elements 6, 8 rollably installed between the static wheel and rotary wheel in the state in which a prescribed pre-load is applied by fitting the rotary wheel component to the rotary wheel. A caulking region 12c in the rotary wheel is plastically deformed by a caulking mechanism (a jig 30 for caulking, a pressing force acting surface 30s to which a lubricant is applied in advance) after fitting the rotary wheel component to the rotary wheel with a plurality of rolling elements interposed between the static wheel and rotary wheel. When caulking the caulking region along the peripheral edge 16s of the rotary wheel component, the lubricant is made to adhere to the entire caulking region from the caulking mechanism (the pressing force acting surface). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
