PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographing system with high reliability. SOLUTION: A camera system 1 is equipped with: an imaging device unit 1a having an imaging device and an imaging device-specific information holding means for holding information specific to the imaging device; a lens unit 1b which has a photographing lens 11b, is mounted with the imaging device unit 1a freely removably and causes the imaging device to generate an image signal by forming an image of object light incident through the photographing lens 11b to the imaging device; and a body unit 1c which is freely removably mounted with the lens unit 1b in a state that the imaging device unit 1a is mounted, and receives and records the image signal. In such a camera system 1, the imaging device unit 1a which is freely removably mounted in the lens unit 1b is equipped with an electric contact 11a for communicating with the body unit 1c and an electric contact for communicating with the lens unit 1b.
