PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element excellent in photoelectric conversion characteristics.

SOLUTION: Dyes with a structural system expressed in general formula [I] are used as a photoelectric conversion material of a photoelectric conversion element. In the formula, R1denotes an alkyl group, an aralkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aryl group, or a heterocycle substituent, R2, R3, R5independently denote a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aralkyl group, an aryl group, or a heterocycle substituent, R4denotes a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an aryl group, a heterocycle substituent, and a halogen atom, and R6, R7, and R8independently denote an alkyl group, an aralkyl group and an aryl group. L1denotes a bivalent interlocking group, and l denotes an integer of 0 or 1.
