PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data communication device which shares a communication line with an external device having a facsimile function to communicate data while effectively using a facsimile transmission priority function, and an equipment management system using the data communication device. SOLUTION: The equipment management system 1 is characterized in that when the data communication device D which shares the PSTN 4 with the facsimile equipment FX and is connected to image forming apparatuses GK1 to GKn performs data communication for transmitting management information of the image forming apparatuses GK1 to GKn to a center management device CS and performs facsimile transmission priority function processing for giving priority to facsimile transmission by the facsimile equipment FX using the PSTN4 over the data communication, the data communication device DS automatically decides the calling system of the facsimile equipment FX and makes the facsimile transmission priority function ineffective or effective according to which of a blind dial system and a dial tone system the calling system is.
