<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problems: since a PDA and a portable telephone have small display screens, large contents cannot be displayed at a time; and since the contents are operated/edited while being browsed, scroll and instruction operation need to be frequently repeated by turns. <P>SOLUTION: A touch sensor 12 is installed to a part of the PDA or the like where a palm of the hand touches. An interface for switching the scroll and instruction operation seamlessly is proposed. Characters are often written by pressing a piece of paper placed on the desk with the palm; otherwise, the paper moves. By applying this paperweight metaphor, content operation, such as character input, is possible (Figure 4(b)) when the palm touches the touch sensor 12; when the palm does not touch and the content is dragged, the content scrolls (Figure 4(a)). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
