PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable restoration using more accurate connection for a missing part included, in a difference between a document image of extraction target and an original image, and particularly, for intermittent parts produced in complicated characters and the like. SOLUTION: In image processing for extracting an additional image (additional information) from a document, for obtaining the difference between additional document image data on an extraction object and original document image data with a difference extraction section 111, to produce additional information and restoring a missing part included in the additional information; a missing line segment identification section 114 identifies (finds out) a thin line (link), corresponding to the missing part from a thinning additional document image obtained by thinning with a second thinning section 113; and the missing part is restored with the identified thin line.
