PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for vulcanizing a pneumatic tire which optimizes the degree of vulcanization of a tread part in a minimum vulcanization time and can thereby reduce the rolling resistance of the pneumatic tire and curtail a lap time. SOLUTION: In the method, an unvulcanized tire T is inserted into a mold, and the mold is heated by an external heat source 11 arranged outside the mold to vulcanize the tire T. The first level from the time when vulcanization is started and the second level from the time while the vulcanization is carried out are set in the set temperature of the external heat source 11.
