PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket wrench for a locknut that is capable of preventing displacement or falling-off of an upper nut and a lower nut fitted into a socket even when used in any direction, capable of preventing the upper nut and the lower nut from being locked in the middle of fastening, and also, capable of smoothly fastening the locknut to a male screw with continuous operations by improving operability and workability, and a locknut fastening method. SOLUTION: The socket wrench for a locknut has an inner socket 3 having an upper-nut fitting part 34 and an upper-nut holding means 5, an outer socket 4A, which has an insertion hole 41 allowing the inner socket 3 to be axially and freely slidably inserted, a lower-nut fitting part 42, and a lower-nut holding means 6, and a position switching means 7 for switching a relative position between the inner socket 3 and the outer socket 4A by sliding the inner socket and the outer socket between a first position, which makes the inner socket 3 face the tip part of the outer socket 4A, and a second position which makes the inner socket 3 retreat from the tip face of the outer socket 4A to the rear.
