PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve heat removal characteristics of fuel rods of a nuclear fuel assembly. SOLUTION: The nuclear fuel assembly includes a multitude of fuel rods 3 accommodating nuclear fuel arranged in a square lattice shape in a channel box 2 of a square pipe shape and water rods 4 not accommodating the nuclear fuel. Both upper and lower end parts of the fuel rods 3 and the water rods 4 are fixed by an upper tie plate 5 and a lower tie plate 6, and are supported so that mutual intervals are held by a plurality of fuel spacers 7 disposed in intermediate parts in the axial direction. The nuclear fuel assembly includes a water tube 8 extending in the same direction as the fuel rods 3 in a position nearer to a channel box 2 than the fuel rods 3 positioned at the outermost periphery. Cooling water flowing into the water tube 8 from the vicinity of the lower tie plate 6 is discharged near the fuel rods 3 positioned at the outermost periphery from an upper end of the water tube 8, and improves the heat removal characteristics of the fuel rods 3.
