PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger capable of reducing its weight while securing sufficient pressure tightness of a flat tube of an inlet path and preventing impairing of heat exchanging performance. SOLUTION: A gas cooler 1 comprises a pair of header tanks 2, 3, and the plurality of flat tubes 4A, 4B arranged in parallel between both header tanks 2, 3. The first header tank 2 is provided with an inlet header portion 8 and an outlet header portion 9, and all of the flat tubes 4A, 4B are divided into the inlet path P1 composed of the plurality of flat tubes 4A connected with the inlet header portion 8, and an outlet path P2 composed of the plurality of flat tubes 4B connected with the outlet header portion 9. Thicknesses of peripheral walls of both paths P1, P2 are uniformed. Heat exchanger use temperature zone strength of a material forming the flat tube 4A of the inlet path P1 is higher than that of a material forming the flat tube 4B of the outlet path P2 by 10-50%.
