PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tea extract subjected to refining treatment through decreasing a nonpolymerized catechin gallate body rate, decreasing a caffeine amount and decreasing gallic acid. SOLUTION: A method for producing the refined tea extract comprises subjecting tea extract to hydrolysis treatment followed by sticking to a synthetic absorbent, and bringing a basic aqueous solution into contact with the product to elute nonpolymerized catechin.
