PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means, particularly tree capable of stably exhibiting nitrogen dioxide uptake ability and assimilation ability even in the environment such as urban area by efficiently absorbing and assimilating nitrogen dioxide in the atmosphere. SOLUTION: A transgenic arboreous plant or its descendent having improved nitrogen dioxide uptake ability and assimilation ability retains a nucleic acid encoding an exogenous polypeptide having nitrous acid-reducing enzyme activity so as to be expressible.
