PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable calibration in a temperature range of 90-170 K or 77 K or lower that cannot be coped in the conventional calibration device by developing a device for calibrating a sheath thermometer at an arbitrary temperature by comparison with a reference thermometer without using a cooling liquid and a low temperature freezing mixture. SOLUTION: The device for comparing and calibrating a temperature variable type low temperature is held at a constant temperature by a refrigerating machine and a heater, provided with a comparison calibration block formed from a material of high heat conductivity in a vacuum jacket, provided with an insertion hole inserting a reference thermometer storage part attaching a reference thermometer in a comparison and calibration block and a thermometer to be calibrated through an introduction pipe from the outside of the vacuum jacket, and fills the introduction pipe with a heat exchange gas.
