The invention relates to mixtures composed of monocarboxy-functionalized dialkylphosphinic acids and of further components, which comprise A) from 98 to 100% by weight of monocarboxy-functionalized dialkylphosphinic acids of the formula (I) in which R₁, R₂, R₃, R₄, R₅, R₆, and R₇ are identical or different and, independently of one another, are H, methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, isopropyl, n-butyl, isobutyl, tert-butyl, and/or phenyl, X and Y are identical or different and, independently of one another, are H, Li, Na, K, or NH₄, and B) from 0 to 2% by weight of halogens, where the entirety of the components always amounts to 100% by weight.
